Company
History The Boys’ Brigade was founded in Glasgow, Scotland in 1883. We are Christian based and were the first uniformed organisation for boys. The
3rd Trafford Company came into being in 1976 when two companies, the
10th Manchester and 48th Manchester were amalgamated.
This was brought about by the closure of King Street Methodist Church which was the headquarters for
the 10th Manchester. The
two companies (as with the church congregations) joined together to meet at the
premises of the old Moss Park Methodist Church which was renamed Sevenways. The
original company on these premises, the 48th Manchester, was founded
in 1952 by a gentleman called Harry Leeming.
He started the company with the backing of the Minister and the Church
Council. Harry remained the Captain until 1964. The
3rd Trafford are part of the church family at Sevenways and enjoys
the support of the church and it’s congregation.
We take part in all aspects of church life including worship on our
parade services.
